A small part of the work, with major consequences.
VisionTech is an installation technical consulting firm that advises on sustainable installations and energy issues in buildings. Think of heating, ventilation, cooling and energy performance. Customers range from private individuals to project developers and projects from tiny houses to residential towers.
The BRL 9500 is only applicable within that wide area of work when drawing up and opting out of energy labels, for example in case of a construction request or delivery. Nevertheless, the maintenance of certification requires almost daily attention.
It's just a small part of our work. But in order to maintain that certification, you have to work on it almost daily.Martin Westerlaken · Adviser at VisionTech
Certification without compromising speed or independence.
The BRL 9500 was explicitly shown for VisionTech when the BENG calculation for nearly energy neutral buildings was introduced. From that moment on, consultancy firms that draw up and unsubscribe energy labels also had to account for how they do so.
VisionTech could join a umbrella organization or become BRL 9500-certified itself. The choice of own certification gave the agency more freedom and especially more speed towards customers.
If we have to report to a umbrella organisation and wait a week for that, for example... We don't like that. Now we just control it ourselves.Martin Westerlaken
From BRL 9500 directive to a workable system.
Through a business contact of Martin, De Compliance Afdeling came into view. VisionTech brought practical knowledge about energy performance advice and a thorough knowledge of the BRL 9500. De Compliance Afdeling complemented this with expertise in compliance management and the Compliance Tool.
Together the requirements have been reviewed and translated into concrete tasks and structures. Maarten then compared the setup with everything Visietech already does for certification. Anything missing or insufficiently connected was corrected and, where possible, incorporated into the software.
I just put the Tool next to everything we should normally do for certification. Then I went to check: is this in? Is this true?Martin Westerlaken
A system that evolves with BRL 9500.
VisionTech's practical experience led to further tightening of functionalities. Incidents can be registered, audit reports can be uploaded and follow-up tasks directly linked to incidents or findings. Navigation has also been further clarified.
For VisionTech, the main benefit is in combining notifications, task management and document storage. Internal audits are scheduled in good time, results are recorded and the corresponding documents are kept in the same place.
- Notifications for recurring internal audits.
- Audit results and documents centrally recorded.
- Incidents and findings linked to follow-up duties.
- Jointly assess and process changes to the BRL.
It used to be on our server. Now you type it in the Compliance Tool and you have everything together.Martin Westerlaken
Answer audit questions quickly and keep the certification manageable.
The process has become clearer and more streamlined. During the last external audit, VisionTech could quickly show where information was and solve small questions directly. Also announced changes to the BRL 9500 can be reviewed together and translated into new measures in the Compliance Tool.
The cooperation between the two parties will provide something: VisionTech keeps the certification under control and retains the desired speed towards customers. De Compliance Afdeling gets practical feedback to improve the Compliance Tool also for other users.
Being BRL 9500-certified requires a bit of the organization, but towards our customers we can deliver the speed we are used to. With the right tools, that is very easy to handle.Martin Westerlaken
I think it's important that we take care of our customers. If we can see how things can be done better, we'd love to. Maarten van Veen · De Compliance Afdeling
